There are two types of flea common in UK homes the cat and the dog flea. The best-known rat species are the black rat (Rattus rattus) and the brown rat (Rattus norvegicus). The most common in the UK is the brown rat it is a brown or grey rodent with a body up to 25 cm (10 in) long, and a similar tail length; the male weighs on average 350 g (12 oz) and the female 250 g (9 oz)

The House mouse (Mus musculus) characteristically has a pointed snout, small rounded ears, and a long naked almost hairless tail. One female mouse can have 5 to 10 litters per year with each litter having between 3 and 14 babies.
